Brent is a political scientist, former military officer and award-winning economic forecaster. He has founded and led companies in sectors such as biometrics and immersive video. Brent is an Internet video pioneer. He created one of the first web video news products for a major university and is the author of the book The Origins of Internet Video. Brent designed the concept for a drone video intelligence analysis system for the U.S. Army – a “YouTube-like application” – long before YouTube. He has also served as a member of management and staff for startups in global risk and forecasting, private intelligence and political consulting. Brent’s technical role at GovBrain is crafting and improving the data science, machine learning, econometrics and mathematics used in product development. Brent has earned a PhD and two master’s degrees. His other specialties are in game theory and mechanism design theory.
Dustin is a full-stack software engineer, architect and integrator who is an expert in all LAMP software solution stacks. In addition to the LAMP specialties, he is extremely capable in Microsoft SQL development including in-depth .NET and C# environments. Dustin designed GovBrain’s patent-pending financial market prediction engine and its accompanying artificial intelligence and machine learning architecture. Dustin has been creating profitable web and mobile applications for over 15 years for clients such as General Dynamics, Sara Lee and Hillshire Farm. He has also successfully developed and maintained digital and web-based case management systems for major programs administered by federal and state government agencies.
Felix is a software engineer, network engineer and system administrator with expertise across the LAMP spectrum. Felix is responsible for the critical early breakthroughs in GovBrain’s software and he helped build the unique and novel infrastructure underlying our products. Felix has extensive network experience having served as a network and server administrator for one of the earliest cloud services providers in Europe. He also worked as the network engineer for the largest developer and operator of shopping malls in Romania. Felix is an expert in cPanel for Linux hosting and CentOS/ RouterOS for network servers.
Besong is GovBrain’s Senior Securities Analyst and he is responsible for the firm’s global macro research. Besong is also concurrently serving as an Interest Rate and Equity Derivatives Valuations Specialist at IHS Markit. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Besong conducted research on arbitrage opportunities in the Asia-Pacific derivative markets for the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). He holds an MS in Applied Finance from Bond University (Australia) and a BA in Financial Economics from Texas Tech University. Besong specializes in quantitative modeling, equity trading strategies and risk control.
Scott is an experienced data and business analyst with expertise in a wide variety of industry sectors. He is responsible for government data and analytics at GovBrain. After completing his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech in business information technology and sociology, Scott worked as a high-level analyst in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, and higher-education technology. He recently returned to Virginia Tech from Washington, DC to work on his master’s degree in information technology. Along with his full-time experience, Scott has worked with several companies in different stages as an advisor and connector of people and services. Scott is truly passionate about new challenges and building and improving business processes.
Doug is the Chairman of GovBrain’s Advisory Board. He is currently a managing partner at Agenda, a leading public affairs firm with seven offices in the U.S. Doug was the state director for New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson’s successful gubernatorial campaigns and worked as general consultant for both administrations. He also served as deputy political director for Steve Forbes’ 2000 bid for president. Doug was most recently a candidate for Governor of New Mexico. He is a foreign policy expert and will soon be a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He was a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow in Japan where he worked on political issues for the Democratic Party of Japan. Doug received his BA from the American University School of International Studies and his MA in international relations from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles/Universite de Paris Sud XI.
Steve founded Ascendere Associates LLC in 2009 to provide innovative equity analysis and financial modeling consulting services. Steve has over 15 years of experience in equity research and related consulting positions in financial services. At PaineWebber, Warburg Dillon Read and Credit Lyonnais Securities (USA), he developed fundamental equity valuation models and conducted in-depth research on the steel and telecom services industries. At Boston Private Value Investors, he built sophisticated screens for stock idea generation and also provided general fundamental equity research coverage. Steve’s sell side equity research experience includes consulting with investment banking teams on planned equity, debt, and mergers and acquisitions deals. He earned an MBA from the F. W. Olin School of Business at Babson College and a BA from Oberlin College. Steve is also a CFA Level 3 candidate.
Chuck served at Bank of America for the last 21 years in financial technology in the area of employee access, security and operations. Chuck was most recently a top information security engineer for BofA’s office of information security as an assistant vice president (AVP). He performed application access and usage audits, including federally-mandated Sarbanes–Oxley audits, for over 500 banking, operations, and communication applications and sub-systems. His unit reported directly to Bank of America’s chief risk officer and the bank’s office of the chief executive. Chuck has received Six Sigma Green Belt Training and is experienced working on national Six Sigma projects such as new systems access applications and corporate reorganizations. He earned a BA in History with a foreign policy and international relations focus from Arizona State University.
Rich is a National Account Director at MediaDC, where he is responsible for email advertising sales and business development for The Weekly Standard and Washington Examiner. Rich has represented several other political news properties, including Townhall, Human Events and RedState. Prior to his work in digital media, Rich was a senior associate at EOP Group, Inc., a Washington, DC-based government advocacy consulting firm. In 2012, Rich served as Washington, DC campaign co-chair for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign and as a delegate to the 2012 Republican National Convention. He was also a delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention. Rich received his BA in Political Economy with a minor in Engineering Science from Tulane University. He is currently an MBA student at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Vadim is the Director of Data Science and a member of the founding team at Innovizo, a data science and technology consulting company based in Washington, DC, where he advises clients and leads data science and engineering teams. As a data science and Big Data expert, Vadim has worked with startups, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and nonprofits. He has led and executed innovative and impactful data science and technology solutions across multiple domains, including digital analytics, market research, education, bioinformatics, political science and economics. His contributions have helped grow companies, win elections, educate the world and fight cancer. Vadim holds a PhD (ABD) in Computational and Data Sciences from George Mason University, MS and BS degrees in Computer Science from the University of California–Irvine and a MS degree in Statistics from California State University–East Bay. Vadim is a big believer in diversity and empowerment, and believes data and technology can change the world.
